DJ Lagway, Walton Clayton Jr. bring Gators flavor to new Chipotle commercial

Florida Gators quarterback DJ Lagway is featured in a new Chipotle commercial with former Gators basketball star Walter Clayton Jr. Clayton was drafted 18th overall in the 2025 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards and then traded to the Utah Jazz.
In the ad, Clayton tells Lagway: “You’re next in line, bro; you’re next up and into the spotlight, but that’s where Gators like us belong. We train for moments like this. We put in the work and eat right with real food that doesn’t compromise because we don’t compromise.”
The commercial shows how both athletes work hard on and off the field. Lagway looks up to Clayton’s NBA success and the message about training, discipline and eating well.
For Chipotle, the ad connects the brand to athletes who care about real food and doing things the right way. Lagway’s rise at Florida and Clayton’s jump to the NBA show how hard work pays off.
Fans are excited to see Lagway in a national commercial with one of Florida’s top basketball players. The ad also highlights how Florida produces athletes ready for the next level, both in sports and life.

By the Numbers: Lagway and Clayton’s Florida Highlights
Clayton, the first player in program history to earn first-team All-American honors, finished his 2024-25 campaign with 713 points — UF’s single-season scoring record — after averaging 21.8 points in his nine postseason games spanning the SEC and NCAA Tournaments.
Clayton earned Final Four and West Regional Most Outstanding Player honors as well as SEC Tournament MVP. He scored a career-high 34 points against Auburn — becoming the first player with back-to-back 30-point games in the Elite Eight and Final Four since Larry Bird in 1979 — and 11 second-half points vs. Houston with the game-winning defensive stop.
As a true freshman last season, Lagway threw for 1,915 yards, 12 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, starting seven games after veteran Graham Mertz went down with a torn ACL. The Gators went 6–1 with Lagway starting, closing on a four-game win streak — all while he played through a hamstring injury.
Lagway’s health has been the biggest question for UF this offseason. Even so, he has received a large amount of preseason recognition. The Coaches Preseason All-SEC Teams had him as a third-team selection. Additionally, Athlon Sports’ Steven Lassan named Lagweay one of the best QBs nationally when he ranked every college football starting quarterback for the 2025 season.
