San Francisco 49ers kicker and former Florida Gators standout, Eddy Piñeiro, has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for October after a perfect month of kicking.

Piñeiro was flawless through four games, making all 10 of his field goal attempts and all six extra points. His consistency helped the 49ers stay on track offensively, especially in close games. That stretch included back-to-back games with four field goals and a season-long 59-yard make against the Los Angeles Rams. That was the longest of his career and second longest in franchise history.

His hot streak also landed him in the team’s record books. Piñeiro made 17 straight field goals to start his career in San Francisco, breaking former kicker Robbie Gould’s mark of 15 from 2017 for the most consecutive makes to begin a season with the team. He also became the first 49ers kicker since Gould in 2017 to hit four or more field goals in back-to-back games.

This marks the first time in Piñeiro’s career that he’s earned a monthly league honor. His accuracy and poise in pressure moments have made him one of the most reliable kickers in the NFL.

While playing for the Gators, Piñeiro led the nation in field goal percentage (94.4%) during his final season in Gainesville. That was in 2017. He has continued that same level of precision at the professional level, becoming a major piece of San Francisco’s success this fall.
