Field of 68, the noted college basketball site now part of the On3 network, is high on the Florida Gators basketball team for this upcoming season, largely because of the returning front court and the talented transfer guards. But it’s also propping up one UF freshman. That’s guard/forward CJ Ingram.

Field of 68’s list of the top 15 impact freshmen was revealed Monday and Ingram checked in at No. 13. This is what was written about him:

As the son of Cornelius Ingram, a two-time national champion at Florida in both basketball and football, CJ Ingram knows what it takes to win as a Gator. So does his head coach, Todd Golden. This could be a perfect match, and on a team that’s loaded with guards and front court talent, Ingram could have a lot of minutes available on the wing. An interesting thing about him? Ingram was originally a highly-touted football player before solely focusing on basketball the summer of 2024. The switch has paid off. Ingram was ranked in the 100s nationally before focusing on hoops, and eliminating football helped him rise to a top-25 prospect. Ingram is extremely bouncy, and although he still has work to do to polish his offensive game, his base level talent and athleticism will impact games every night in the SEC.

CJ Ingram, who is 6-foot-6, was the No. 23 overall recruit and No. 7 shooting guard nationally in the country. He could see time at both shooting guard and small-forward for the Gators. He averaged 12.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.7 steals per game during his senior season at Montverde Academy (Fla.), filling roles across three positions.

Ingram is one of two true freshmen in the class, along with combo guard Alex Lloyd.

“The two freshmen guards they got, I love both of them,” ESPN college basketball analyst Seth Greenberg told Gators Online. “I actually think Ingram and Lloyd are interesting.”

He added, “I love CJ Ingram. Big, physical, tough, upside is ridiculous.”

Like Ingram, Lloyd, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound standout, also will bring an impressive hoops résumé with him to Gainesville. Lloyd, who competed in the prestigious 2025 Jordan Brand Classic, was the No. 40 recruit in the country. As a senior, he averaged 27.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. He’ll probably be a point/off combo for UF, the 2025 national champs.

“Lloyd’s got a great pace to his game,” Greenberg said. “He’s got middle game, he can shoot it, he can play on and off the ball.
