Florida among 3 SEC schools still under consideration for Trenton Henderson

One of Florida’s top EDGE targets is set to enter decision-making mode.

On Monday, 4-star pass rusher Trenton Henderson of Pensacola (Fla.) Catholic released his final three schools: Florida, LSU and Texas. The trio made the cut with no specific order listed ahead of a commitment scheduled for July 2. He has now visited all three finalists and gathered the information he needs to make a decision.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound defender is one of the top-ranked EDGE prospects in the state of Florida and has been a top priority for the Gators throughout the cycle. Henderson took his official visit to Florida the weekend of June 13–15 and came away very impressed with everything Gainesville had to offer.

Before the trip, LSU was viewed as the favorite; however, Florida gained serious momentum during the visit and has been in a strong position ever since. According to sources, the Gators currently feel good about where they sit heading into the final stretch of Henderson’s recruitment.

Earlier today, Gators Online had this to say about Florida’s involvement with Henderson. We also submitted an RPM pick for the SEC school on June 16.

Texas also remains in the picture after hosting Henderson for an official visit last week. The Longhorns are always a factor in high-profile battles and have a strong pitch, so you can’t count them out.

For Florida, Henderson represents a key target at a premium position. He brings speed off the edge, toughness and a motor that fits the room perfectly for outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson. He’s an in-state prospect the Gators would love to keep home.

Now, it’s decision-watch time and the Gators are firmly in the mix.
