The Florida Gators finished the regular season in the top 15 of both baseball polls after their sixth straight series win against Alabama. UF climbed eight spots in the D1Baseball Top 25 Rankings and one spot in the latest Baseball America poll on Monday.

After cracking the top 25 again last week, the Gators jumped from No. 23 to No. 15 in the new D1Baseball rankings and moved up to No. 12 in the last Baseball America poll.

Here’s what Baseball America said about Florida (37-19, 15-15 SEC) in its final regular season rankings.

“Florida in early April looked dead in the water at just 1-11 in SEC play. Then it went on an incredible run to end the regular-season and won each of its last six series to finish with 15 conference wins. The Gators have been arguably the most injury-riddled team in the country, yet week in and week out they’ve continued to find ways to win. Senior Bobby Boser has been a steady presence in the lineup all season, and his 58 RBIs lead the team. On the hill, Florida boasts the imposing duo of blue chip freshman Aidan King and star sophomore Liam Peterson. While this weekend’s series win over Alabama was another feather in its cap, Florida likely needs at least one win this week in Hoover to push itself onto the right side of the hosting bubble.”

The Gators’ Senior Day victory over Alabama (40-15, 16-14 SEC) gave them wins in 17 of their final 22 regular-season games including 14 of 18 in SEC play heading into the SEC Tournament. No. 10-seed Florida faces No. 15-seed South Carolina in the first round on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. ET.

After limping to a 1-11 start in league play, UF closed out the regular season with a six series winning streak, which is twice as long as the next-closest SEC team. The Gators will become the first SEC team to ever reach the NCAA Tournament after starting conference action 2-10 or worse since 1992 expansion.

“It’s just been a lot of disruption (with injuries), we got guys moving around, but they hung in there,” Florida coach Kevin O’Sullivan said of the turnaround. “I told the team at the end; you probably need to take some time to reflect back on what just happened.

“Just to be 1-11 and end up at 15 wins in the league, no one’s ever done that since the league expanded, since ’92, but obviously our job is not finished. At least we put ourselves in at least discussion to host, but we’ll see what happens. But can’t say enough about this group and their resiliency.”
