Florida Gators hold steady in latest AP poll as a top-10 team

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators held steady in the latest Associated Press Poll following their 80-45 win over Merrimack on Friday. UF is ranked No. 10 for the third week in a row.

Florida (4-1) did move up one spot No. 8 in the new USA Today Coaches Poll. The Gators won their 10th straight at home with their blowout victory over the Warriors.

UF is 32-2 at the O’Dome since the start of the 2023-24 season.

Florida opened the game with an 11-0 run and went on a 21-0 run to take a 32-4 lead. It marked the program’s fourth run of 20-plus points over the past 10 seasons.

Rueben Chinyelu posted his third consecutive double-double with 14 points and UF shot-clock era record 21 rebounds, while Alex Condon had 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Florida’s had multiple players with a double-double in four straight games. Dating back to 1990, the program didn’t have multiple double-doubles for even two straight games.

The Gators return to the court on Thanksgiving for the Rady Children’s Invitational in San Diego. They will take on TCU at 3 p.m. on FS1. and the winner plays Providence or Wisconsin on Friday.
