Florida Gators open as favorites vs. FSU

The Florida Gators, after four straight losses, enter Saturday’s season finale at home vs. Florida State sitting at just 3-8. But Vegas likes UF this week in a close one against the Seminoles.
BetMGM, the official betting partner of On3, has made Florida a 2.5-point favorite in the game. The over/under is 50.5 points.
FSU is 5-6 overall and just 2-6 in the very weak ACC. The ‘Noles did beat Alabama, currently No. 10 in the rankings, 31-17 in week 1. But they have only played one ranked opponent since then—Miami, and lost at home 28-22. The Gators have played seven ranked teams and are 1-6 in those games, but 1-1 at home.

Florida is 4-7 against the spread this season.
The Florida Gators lead the all-time series with FSU, 38-28-2. Florida won last year in Tallahassee, 31-11. That’s the same score by which UF lost to No. 20 Tennessee on Saturday night at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The 20-point loss matched Florida’s largest margin of defeat versus the Volunteers in Gainesville, along with a 20-0 shutout in 1955. Saturday marked the Gators’ worst loss in the rivalry series since a 45-3 drubbing at Rocky Top in 1990.
“We played a good football team,” UF interim coach Billy Gonzales said. “They’re a field goal away from — last year they were a college football playoff team. This year they’re an overtime loss to Georgia and a field goal, really, to Oklahoma. Or else they’d be in the CFP playoff at a high level right now. They’re an extremely good football team. But we’ve got to find a way to get off the field. We’ve got to find a way to stop the run game. And I think that’s something that the teams have done over the last couple of weeks against us.”
The Gators are 22-13-1 vs. the ‘Noles in Gainesville.
The Gators and Seminoles are set for a 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN2.
