Florida set to hire Phil Trautwein as offensive line coach
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A two-time national champion and two-time team captain at Florida is joining Jon Sumrall’s staff. The Gators are expected to hire Phil Trautwein as offensive line coach, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
Trautwein has been Penn State’s offensive line coach since 2020 after two seasons at Boston College (2018-19). He coached 39 all-conference selections during that eight-year span.
Trautwein has coached three first round picks and produced seven offensive linemen in the NFL Draft over the last six years, which ranks among the nation’s highest since his arrival.
Trautwein played for the Gators from 2004-08 and was a team captain twice. He won a pair of national titles, two SEC championships and earned first-team All-SEC honors in 2008.
Trautwein spent four years in the NFL (2009-12) and was a member of four league teams. He started his coaching career in 2013 as a graduate assistant at Boston College (2013-15).
Trautwein, 39, worked his first job as an assistant coach at Davidson, where he served as the special teams coordinator & tight ends coach from 2016-17 before returning to the Eagles.
