Florida QB DJ Lagway signs NIL deal with Red Bull

Following his best performance of the season to date in an upset win over Texas, Florida Gators quarterback DJ Lagway inked a new NIL deal with the energy drink brand Red Bull. Red Bull and Lagway announced the deal on social media on Friday with a joint Instagram post. In it, the caption read: “DJ’s got the arm, the aim, and now the wiiings.”
DJ Lagway has received lots of NIL attention in college
Gators’ QB DJ Lagway is repped by NETWORK and was the former No. 1 quarterback recruit in the 2024 class. That position typically receives the most attention in NIL, and Lagway’s current On3 NIL Valuation sits at $1.9 million. He’s been a popular name in the NIL space this year. Lagway’s signed previous NIL agreements with Gatorade, Jordan Brand, Chipotle, Beats by Dre, T-Mobile, and Mercedes-Benz of Gainesville.
“We are incredibly proud of DJ and everything he has accomplished,” Lagway’s parents, Derek and Niki Lagway, said in a press release announcing the partnership. “From the time he was young, he’s approached every stage of his life with focus, determination, and his whole heart. To see those qualities recognized by a brand as influential as Red Bull, placing our son among their elite athlete partners, is a blessing. The energy, the ambition–it’s the perfect fit.”
DJ Lagway is the latest college athlete to partner with Red Bull. He joins the likes of Texas quarterback Arch Manning, Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith, BYU men’s basketball player AJ Dybantsa, women’s basketball stars Hannah Hidalgo, MiLaysia Fulwiley, and Mikaylah Williams.

“Seeing DJ join the Red Bull family is such a proud and exciting moment for all of us,” Lagway’s manager and NETWORK VP Michaela Simon said in a press release. “His talent, discipline, and love for the game shine through in everything he does, and Red Bull’s energy perfectly aligns with that. “They truly understand what motivates athletes like DJ–not just in his athletic performance, but in his individuality. It’s been incredible working with the Red Bull team to bring this partnership to life, and we’re so excited for everything that’s ahead.”
Florida hopes to maintain its level of play on the road this weekend
After upsetting the Texas Longhorns in Gainesville this past weekend, DJ Lagway and the Florida Gators hope to do the same thing on the road this weekend. UF travels to College Station for a Saturday night showdown with No. 5-ranked Texas A&M. Lagway enters that contest with 988 yards, 7 touchdowns, and seven interceptions this season for the Gators. It’s Lagway’s first game in his home state since he was in high school, as he missed UF’s road test last season against Texas.
“I think it can be a positive,” Florida head coach Billy Napier said. “Anything that’s a motivator. …. It’s all going to be about how he prepares and how he executes, presented with the opportunity. Maybe it’ll give him a little edge this week. I think certainly for me it would. Anytime we play some of these teams where I’m from, it’s definitely part of the puzzle. So I think it could be a positive.”
