GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Gators redshirt sophomore running back Treyaun Webb has suffered another injury setback. Webb had surgery on Monday and will be out for at least a month, Gators Online has confirmed.

Webb had a clean-up procedure on his right hamstring and could be back from injury for conference play this season. He was already in a non-contact jersey to open training camp and was also limited during spring practices.

Webb was Montrell Johnson Jr.’s backup last year before suffering a season-ending leg injury and redshirting. He finished the year with 21 carries for 93 yards and a touchdown in four games played, averaging 4.4 yards per carry.

Webb led the Gators in rushing against Texas A&M with 37 yards on six carries and rushed eight times for 41 yards at Mississippi State. He scored his third-career rushing touchdown against Miami.

Johnson is off to the NFL, but the Gators bring back their 1-2 punch of sophomore Jadan Baugh and redshirt senior Ja’Kobi Jackson. Both players passed Webb on the depth chart last season and were projected to play over him this year.

Baugh rushed for a team-high 673 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on 133 carries (5.1 YPC), earning Freshman All-SEC honors. Jackson ran the ball 95 times for 509 yards (5.4 YPC) and tied Baugh for a team-high seven rushing touchdowns.

The Gators also have four freshmen running backs on the team, led by redshirt freshman KD Daniels. He is the favorite to be third in the rotation with Webb out. Daniels had 11 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown last season.

“He’s doing good. He’s doing really good,” Florida coach Billy Napier said of Daniels. “I think he’s trusting his eyes. His eye discipline is improving, his footwork is more consistent. I think the protection component; he’s becoming more of a student of the game — and I think he’s doing a better job.”

UF added three true freshmen from its 2026 recruiting class: Duke Clark, Byron Louis and Chad Gasper Jr. At this time, it appears that Clark — an early enrollee — is Daniels’ biggest competition for the role as Florida’s No. 3 running back.

“We have competition for who’s the third back,” Napier said Monday. “That’s a big-time role in our offense. We know that running backs get banged up. I don’t think we’ve had a year where the top two, one of those guys will get banged up. So, who is that guy? KD, Duke, hopefully Treyaun gets back in the fold, and then obviously, Byron Louis has flashed a little bit. But we got a lot of work to do to figure out who that is.”
