GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A pair of Florida Gators rookie phenoms, right-handed pitcher Aidan King and first baseman Brendan Lawson, received Freshman All-American honors this week. UF now has 47 total in school history.

King was named a First Team Freshman All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Perfect Game. Lawson earned Second Team Freshman All-American status from Perfect Game at first base.

King is Florida’s first Freshman All-American since Cade Kurland and Cade Fisher earned First Team honors back in 2023. King becomes the 31st First Team Freshman All-American in school history and UF’s 21st under Kevin O’Sullivan.

King led Florida with a 2.58 ERA, .213 batting average against, 73 1/3 innings pitched and five quality starts. The true freshman posted the lowest ERA by a Gator across a full season since Brady Singer in 2018 (2.55) while posting a 7-2 record, 1.11 WHIP, 9.7 strikeouts per nine and 3.4 strikeout-to-walk ratio. King fanned 79 batters against 23 walks and gave just three home runs.

King set a program record with four SEC weekly honors in 2025 and was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. In his final five starts of the year he went 3-1 with a 0.94 ERA, .192 BAA and 29-to-10 K-to-BB ratio over 28 2/3 innings pitched. He allowed one earned run or fewer in all five outings.

Making the All-SEC All-Freshman Team along with King, Lawson started 60 of 61 games while hitting .317/.417/.522 for a .939 OPS and playing first, second and third base. He ranked second on the Gators with 61 RBI and totaled 10 homers, one triple, 14 doubles, 48 runs and eight steals. Lawson also finished second on the team in multi-RBI games (15) and multi-hit games (23).
