Florida safety Jordan Castell is entering the NCAA Transfer Portal after starting for three seasons in the Gators’ secondary. That’s according to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett.

The former 4-star prospect finishes his Florida career with over 150 tackles and multiple interceptions, including 54 tackles and two picks in 2025.

With Castell’s departure, Florida will likely look to the younger players in the secondary to step up. Rising sophomores Hylton Stubbs and Lagonza Hayward, both former recruits with high upside, could take big leaps next season as they gain experience and more playing time.

The Gators may also explore the transfer portal to add depth and maintain leadership in the defensive backfield heading into spring practice.

The move comes as part of a broader trend around the program, with Florida looking to retool certain position groups while keeping a balance between experienced players and emerging talent. Additional notable departures for the Gators include quarterback DJ Lagway, running back KD Daniels and tight end Amir Jackson.

With offseason workouts approaching and then spring football, eyes will be on how the Gators fill the void and develop the next wave of players in the secondary.

Coming out of high school at Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange, Jordan Castell was the No. 236 prospect and No. 17 safety in the 2023 class. That is according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted algorithm that complies all major recruiting media services.
