Former Florida Gators DB Ahmad Black to serve as Mr. Two Bits

The Florida Gators open the 2025-2026 season at home against Long Island University this weekend. For that game in The Swamp, former Florida defensive back Ahmad Black will serve as the honorary Mr. Two Bits ahead of kickoff. This season will kick off the 13th year of the celebrity Mr. Two Bits tradition, and the fourth year under head coach Billy Napier.
“It’s cool, man,” Black told Chris Harry of FloridaGators.com. “Any time you get to go to ‘The Swamp’ again, it’s an amazing opportunity. Things people deal with on a daily basis get forgotten when you get to go cheer for your team. It’s just great to be around the fans that have grown to love and support you at Florida.”
Black was an impact player for the Florida Gators
Ahmad Black was a coveted prospect in the class of 2007 out of Lakeland (Fla.). He was one of the original ‘Gatornaughts’ to sign with the Orange and Blue in that recruiting cycle. Black didn’t play much as a freshman in 2007. However, he started all 14 games at strong safety during the Gators’ 2008 national championship season. He finished that campaign with 59 tackles, a team-high seven interceptions, and two touchdowns. One of those picks was in the Florida Gators’ defeat of Oklahoma in the BCS title game.
In 2010, Black was honored as first-team All-SEC and first-team All-America. He capped off his career with an MVP performance in the Outback Bowl. That outing saw Black snag two interceptions, including an 80-yard touchdown return to seal a 37-24 victory over Penn State.

After entering the NFL Draft after the 2010 season, Black was a fifth-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and played three seasons with the team. No matter how long ago Black played for the Florida Gators, it’s an exciting experience for him to come back. The notoriety of his college career is great, but this weekend’s experience will be another memory of the program etched into his brain.
“Everybody wants to be recognized for their accomplishments,” Black told Chris Harry. “But I didn’t play for accolades. If I’m blessed enough to get into the UF Hall of Fame one day, that’ll be great. But I didn’t play for that. I played the game because I enjoyed it and made memories for people and with people who I forged lifelong relationships and became my brothers. I got rings for championships, which are amazing, but the lifelong bonds I have with people, that’s what really matters.”
