Todd Golden and the Florida Gators are a top contender for Jayden Quaintance, one of the truly elite 2024 basketball recruits in the country.

Quaintance, a 5-star center and the top-ranked player nationally at his position, named four finalists Monday, per Joe Tipton or On3: Florida, Kentucky, Missouri and Ohio State. Tipton also noted, “Quaintance previously considered the G-League Ignite pathway, but has ultimately made the decision to go to college, per his coach.”

When might Quaintance reveal his commitment? That’s to be determined.

Quaintance, who plays at Word of God Christian Academy in North Carolina, is the No. 4 overall recruit nationally in the class for On3. He has officially visited all of his finalists.

Quaintance’s Gators official visit took place the weekend of Oct. 14.

““My dad is from Florida, his whole side of the family is down there. It’s good to be able to talk to Florida schools,” Quaintance said about the Gators to On3. Here is what Quaintance said about his other finalists.

It’s not yet clear when Jayden Quaintance will pick his college

Per Tipton, “Quaintance was originally a part of the 2025 class, before reclassifying to the 2024 class. The 16-year-old will be required to do two years of college before being eligible for the NBA Draft in 2026.”

What is Quaintance looking for in a college?

“Freedom in the playing style is the big thing for me. Getting minutes early, trusting me out on the floor and in the offense, giving me a chance to flourish and a chance to develop. I have good relationships with all the coaches, so I won’t really be choosing off that. My decision has got to be about business and what situation gives me the best chance. It’s great to have a good relationship with your coaches, and I have that with all these coaches. But, it all has to make sense from a basketball standpoint.”
