Gators buzzing with 4-star CB Chauncey Kennon ahead of summer decision

Sarasota (Fla.) Booker standout Chauncey Kennon is closing in on his college decision, and the Florida Gators are firmly in the mix.
According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, the 4-star cornerback will be making his commitment on July 6, choosing from a top group that includes Florida, Georgia, Miami, LSU, Florida State and Oregon.
The Gators have built major momentum in this recruitment, especially in recent months. Kennon made a spring visit to Gainesville earlier this year and that trip helped launch Florida into serious contention.
Florida then continued to push all the right buttons during his official visit on May 16. The Gators rolled out the red carpet and it clearly resonated with the elite defensive back. That OV helped elevate Florida to one of the top spots in his recruitment.
“It will be hard [to top the Florida visit] because it’s hard to beat an in-state school,” Kennon previously told Gators Online. “I want to play at home at the end of the day, but it’s up to the in-state schools to do their job to keep me here.
“I feel like all the Florida schools are in the race for first. That’s really how I feel. Me coming here and catching a vibe. Feeling everything Florida has to offer is big. It’s definitely making it a hard decision.”

Chauncey Kennon is visiting the Florida Gators again next week
The buzz around Kennon’s Florida interest is growing even more with news that he plans to return to Gainesville on June 3 for OTAs. Getting a top target back on campus so soon after an official visit is always a positive sign, especially when a decision is just weeks away.
All in all, Kennon is one of the most coveted players in the state and the Gators are doing everything they can to keep him home. Another successful visit could potentially do that.
“Mainly seeing how the program is built around the student athletes,” Kennon said when asked about the highlight. “That’s probably the biggest. It’s more than just football at the end of the day. You have to come here and build every aspect of life. That’s a big part for me.”
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Kennon is the No. 46 overall player in the 2026 class. He’s also ranked as the No. 5 cornerback in the nation and the No. 5 prospect in the state of Florida.
