Gators commit JaReylan McCoy earns major recognition from ESPN
The Florida Gators have been adding top defensive line talent under Billy Napier, and on Thursday, one of their top commits earned more national recognition.
ESPN released its rankings of the top-25 college football recruits regardless of class, with 2026 Florida EDGE commit JaReylan McCoy checking in at No. 17 overall. The Tupelo (Miss.) star has been viewed as one of the premier front-seven defenders but is now being grouped among the best regardless of class.
McCoy was initially committed to LSU and then became a centerpiece of the Gators’ class back in June. He boasts the physical tools and versatility that continue to elevate his stock.
Below is what ESPN wrote about McCoy in Thursday’s article. He is currently a 5-star prospect and the No. 9-ranked overall prospect in the ESPN300.
“Florida keeps stacking five-star defensive line talent, with McCoy the latest to join the mix after flipping from LSU,” said ESPN. “McCoy has elite length, a big frame and a relentless motor, and all the pieces came together for him on a massive stage during the Under Armour All-America week this winter.
“McCoy tests off the charts on combine settings (6-7, 260 pounds, 4.88 40-yard dash) and shows the skills and versatility on tape to suggest he could line up in multiple spots along Florida’s defensive line. He also doesn’t shy away from leading teammates. Don’t be surprised if McCoy develops into a game-wrecker in the Swamp.”

According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting services, JaReylan McCoy is the No. 11 defensive lineman and No. 109 overall prospect in the 2026 class.
