Gators commit picked for Alabama/Mississippi All-Star game

Florida Gators 4-star defensive line commit JaReylan McCoy received a big honor Wednesday when he was selected to play in this year’s Alabama/Mississippi All-Star Game. McCoy was named to the Mississippi squad; he’s a standout at Tupelo High. The Alabama roster will be named at a later date.
The game, held Dec. 13 in Hattiesburg, Miss., is among the most prestigious all-star games in the South. Several Gators have played in it over the years.
McCoy, listed at 6-foot-6.5, 265 pounds, is the No. 6 recruit in the state of Mississippi for the Rivals Industry Rankings. He’s checks in at No. 11 among defensive linemen and No. 109 overall.
This season, he has recorded 29 total tackles, 17 solo stops, 6.5 tackles for loss, 7 QB hurries and 1.5 sacks in fives games. For his high school career, McCoy has 38.0 tackles for loss and 16.5 sacks. Tupelo, one of the stronger programs in the state, is 4-1.

JaReylan McCoy a “physically gifted” player
On3 Dir. of Scouting Charles Power said this about McCoy: “Physically gifted defensive lineman with a huge frame and plus athleticism as a high school underclassman. has measured in over 6-foot-6.5 and close to 250 pounds prior to his sophomore season. Owns plus length for the position with 34.25-inch arms. Registers as a top athlete, running a 4.89 second 40-yard dash at Student Sports’ All-22 camp. Lines up as a big defensive end for his high school. Physical gifts are readily apparent on Friday nights. Flashes good speed and functional movement skills. Closes to make some impressive plays. Has upside as a run defender, using his big frame to body offensive linemen. Still early in his development. Likely not done growing and could see his frame maxing out at north of 300 pounds. Size and athleticism make him one of the early top defensive linemen in the 2026 cycle.”
McCoy committed to UF on June 14. The Gators beat Texas to land him. With Florida just 1-3 and coach Billy Napier’s future uncertain, he probably is someone to track moving forward. But for now, McCoy appears to be fairly locked in with Florida.
Wrote Blake Alderman of Gators Online: “McCoy remains vocal about his belief in the program. The Gators are clearly having problems on the field, but McCoy has found a positive in how the team is playing on defense. He did take an unofficial visit to Mississippi State a few weeks back, but said that the majority of his time in Starkville was spent at a tailgate with people he knows. McCoy also recently told On3 that he hasn’t been receptive to other programs reaching out. Texas is one team that McCoy hears from, and the Longhorns finished second in this recruitment back in the summer. He’s saying the right things about his pledge, but you can never feel confident about a commitment when there’s noise in the system.”
