Florida Gators defensive lineman Caleb Banks, who made his season debut and started at LSU after missing the first two weeks with a foot injury, is expected to be out a significant amount of time after re-injuring the foot.

Asked if it was a longer-term injury Monday, Gators coach Billy Napier replied, “Yes sir” without providing any more details. Earlier in his weekly press conference, Napier noted simply, “Caleb Banks re-injured his foot.”

Banks, a redshirt senior who some prognosticators have called a potential first-round draft pick for 2026, played in 29 total snaps in Florida’s 20-10 loss at LSU on Saturday. He did not record any tackles.

“In general, it was great for him to be back out there (Saturday),” Napier said.

Banks left the game in the third quarter after re-injuring his foot. He had a 65.9 Pro Football Focus grade for his performance. In 2024, Banks was dominant against the Tigers in a UF win. He recorded a sack and seven QB pressures that day.

Caleb Banks’ injury will mean more time for Brendan Bett

Without Banks earlier in the season, the Gators relieved heavily on Baylor transfer Brendan Bett. And, Bett also had a significant impact against LSU. The sophomore defensive lineman played 18 snaps vs. the Tigers and made four tackles.

Bett recorded a 72.6 grade from PFF. He was held out for most of the first half as part of internal discipline for his spitting ejection against USF the previous week.
