Gators forward Aleks Szymczyk enters transfer portal

On3 has learned that a reserve player for the Gators is opting for a change of scenery, having entered the transfer portal on Friday.
That player is forward Aleks Szymczyk, who spent two years in Gainesville. He will have three years of eligibility at his next school.
Szymczyk, 6-foot-10, 250 pounds, missed all of last season due to injury. He appeared in 14 games as a freshman in 2022-23, averaging just 2.1 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.

Prior to his time at Florida, Szymczyk attended and graduated from Gymnasium Münsen-Nord and competed with International Basketball Academy Munich. He broke onto the pro scene in Germany with TSV-Oberhaching, a German ProB league club.
The sophomore was the first international player Todd Golden recruited and brought to Gainesville.
“Aleks brings great size, physicality, and basketball acumen to our program. He can bang with bigs in the paint and also has the ability to stretch the floor with his three-point shooting ability. He’s a dual-threat big that will fit great within our program,” Golden said at the time of Szymczyk’s signing.
