Urban Meyer, the legendary Florida Gators football coach, was back in Gainesville on Saturday. The school honored him a couple hours before kickoff by unveiling a plaque that recognizes Meyer for his induction into the College Football Hall of Fame. The plaque sits just outside the southwest corner of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium’s exterior. Appropriately, it’s right next to the plaque for Meyer’s former star quarterback, Tim Tebow.

Several of Meyer’s former UF players were on hand for the ceremony, including standout linebacker Brandon Siler, tight end Cornelius Ingram and receiver Jemalle Cornelius.

Meyer spent six seasons at Florida and he posted an overall record of 65-15 with an SEC mark of 36-12. The Gators won two national titles, along with two Southeastern Conference championships and three SEC Eastern Division titles under his direction. His teams competed in six straight January bowl games, including three BCS bowl games.

Meyer was named the All-American Football Foundation Coach of the Year in 2008, the season UF won title No. 2 with him as coach. His overall winning percentage of .813 ranks second all-time in program history.

Meyer, 61, went 187–32 all time as a college head coach. After leaving UF, he went 83–9 at Ohio State and won his third national championship while in charge of the Buckeyes.
