Gators legend Tim Tebow named AP's All-Time All-American first-team QB

The Associated Press on Thursday named the All-Time All-America first team for football. One Florida Gator made the list: Tim Tebow, the quarterback legend in Gainesville.
Ohio State and Pittsburgh led the way with three players selected. The Big Ten led all conferences with seven selections, followed by the SEC with five.
Per the AP, the 25-player first team consisted of five Heisman Trophy winners and 21 College Football Hall of Famers. The AP wrote, “A panel of 12 AP sports writers who cover college football selected the all-time team. … For a player to qualify, he must have been an AP first-team All-American at least once. His professional career, if any, was not to be considered. Also, a member of the all-time team could only be listed on the side of the ball where he was named first-team All-America. All-purpose players could come from any position.”
Tebow, who played at Florida from 2006-09, edged out Vince Young of Texas for the spot at QB. Tebow was a first-team AP All-American in 2007, the season he became the first sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy.

The iconic Tebow is an all-time Gators legend and some might argue he tops the list of UF greats. He helped Florida win two national titles and two SEC titles. Tebow had three top-five Heisman finishes. At Florida, he completed 67.1 percent of his passes for 9,286 yards, 88 touchdowns and only 16 interceptions. Meanwhile, he added 2,947 rushing yards and 57 rushing touchdowns. Tebow is fourth all time in UF passing yards for a career — and sixth in rushing.
