The kickoff time for the Texas Longhorns’ first game in The Swamp against the Florida Gators since 1940 has been revealed: The Oct. 4 SEC matchup will start at 3:30 p.m. ET. The broadcast station is yet to be determined, but the game will be shown on either ABC or ESPN.

Unranked UF is 1-3 after dropping consecutive games to USF, LSU and Miami. Texas, ranked No. 10 in the AP top 25, is 3-1. The Longhorns have won three straight games since losing at Ohio State in Week 1.

Both teams are off this week.

The Gators have never beaten Texas. UF is 0-3-1 in the all-time series, which includes a 49-17 blowout loss last season in Austin, Texas. That was the first meeting between the programs since 1940, when Texas beat the Gators 26-0 at what was then known simply as Florida Field. In the two other previous games, UF lost 12-0 at Texas in 1939 and tied the Longhorns 7-7 in 1924 at Texas.

This year’s game was expected to be a meeting between two explosive offenses led by Heisman Trophy candidates at QB, DJ Lagway of Florida and Arch Manning of Texas. But both players have struggled early in the season and neither offense has looked that great. On the flip side, this matchup will feature two of the better defenses in the SEC.

Texas, allowing 212.0 yards a game, ranks fifth nationally and second in the SEC. The Gators allow 284.2 yards per game, which is 31st in the country.
