Big West freshman pitcher of the year Cooper Walls announced his commitment to the Florida Gators on Tuesday. He pitched to a 3.73 ERA with 45 strikeouts to 15 walks over 60.1 innings (15 appearances, 13 starts) at Hawaii.

According to Baseball America’s Jacob Rudner, the 6-foot-5 righty was up to 93 mph (89.5 avg) with a slider and curveball. Walls is the fifth transfer landed by Florida from the portal.

The Gators have also added Jacksonville center fielder Jaden Bastian, Notre Dame RHP Ricky Reeth, Central Florida RHP Russell Sandefer and junior college catcher/DH AJ Malzone.

UF has lost five pitchers to the portal in sophomores Jacob Gomberg (LHP) and Alex Philpott (RHP) and freshmen Carson Montsdeoca (RHP), Niko Janssens (LHP) and Felix Ong (RHP), as well as catchers Cole Bullen and Brock Clayton.
