The Florida Gators just landed another 4-star prospect, and they didn’t have to go far to get him.

Moments ago, Gainesville (Fla.) Buchholz wide receiver Justin Williams announced his commitment to the Gators, giving Billy Napier‘s staff another dynamic playmaker. Williams, a 4-star prospect and an On300 recruit, chose Florida over Florida State, Indiana, Missouri and Kentucky. The Wildcats finished second.

The 6-foot, 185-pound playmaker wrapped up his official visit to UF this weekend and committed during the trip. He was initially going to announce publicly in July, but the memorable experience over a three-day span gave him no reason to wait any longer.

“The highlight was definitely today. I committed. I’m staying home and I can’t wait to get to work. I just wanted to let them know I’m a Gator. I’m going to stay home,” Williams told Gators Online.

“Billy Napier, he said it was the best thing that’s happened in his eight years as a head coach. I think it was pretty awesome. I grew up going to games. My mom can just drive 20 minutes down the road to come to the game. It’s just really cool to see all my friends at the games and sitting in the stands.”

Justin Williams is coming off a monster junior season at Buchholz, where he posted 1,473 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. He also added over 1,000 rushing yards and 16 scores on the ground, finishing the year with 30 total touchdowns, including one on a kickoff return.

Williams’ playmaking ability, versatility and familiarity with the Gators made this a natural fit from the start. While he had a trip to Florida State lined up and other schools in the mix, the momentum was clearly on Florida’s side coming out of his official visit.

“They want to motion me around, using me as a utility guy,” said Williams. “Seeing how they use Tre Wilson and Vernell (Brown III), I’ll be doing a lot of what they do and fitting in.”

Now, the Gators have secured one of the most explosive offensive weapons in the state. He’s excited to show out in front of family and friends at the Swamp.
