Keiwan Ratliff not retained, thankful for his time on Florida staff

After spending the past two-plus years with the Florida Gators football program, Keiwan Ratliff’s time at his alma mater has come to an end. 

Ratliff, who has worked on UF’s recruiting staff since May 2019, was not retained by new coach Billy Napier, he informed Gators Online on Wednesday. 

Ratliff said he is thankful for the opportunity he had to return to the University of Florida and serve as an assistant director of player personnel. 

“Getting a chance to come back to UF and put on that orange and blue, be part of the team again and run out of the tunnel is an experience I’ll always cherish,” Ratliff said. “I’m just happy that my University opened the door for me to get into the college game. I’ll always be a Gator.”

Ratliff, 40, had a decorated four-year career with the Gators from 2000-03, earning SEC Defensive Player of the Year and consensus All-American honors in 2003.

An Ohio native, Ratliff returned to his home state as a second-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals and had three stints with the team during his seven-year NFL career.

Ratliff was inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame as a “Gator Great” in 2013 and was also inducted into the Florida-Georgia Hall of Fame this year.
