Lane Kiffin's betting odds improve for the Florida Gators job

The betting lines for the next Florida Gators coach have moved once again. Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin surpassed Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz as the favorite last Wednesday, and his odds have improved this week.

Kiffin is now listed at -300 odds after jumping to -150 last week, according to Bet Online. His odds were at +300 and +200, respectively, when he was behind Drinkwitz, but Kiffin was initially the favorite for UF’s job in the first two betting lines.

Kiffin is 53-19 in Oxford (30-17 in the SEC). He has the Rebels off to a 9-1 start and No. 6 in College Football Playoff rankings. Mississippi hosts the Gators this Saturday.

Drinkwitz’s odds remain at +120 and second on the list after being at -110 last Tuesday. He is 44-27 (24-23 SEC) at Mizzou and 6-3 this season after going 10-3 last year and 11-2 in 2023.

Former Penn State coach James Franklin and Washington coach Jedd Fisch are now tied for the third-highest odds at +600. Franklin, who’s up from +900 last week, went 104-45 at Penn State and 13-3 last year to reach the semifinals, while Fisch is 6-3 this season (3-3 Big Ten) and led Arizona to a 10-3 record in 2023.

The top remaining odds at this time are +2000 for Louisville’s Jeff Brohm, Georgia Tech’s Brent Key, Vanderbilt’s Clark Lea and Tulane’s Jon Sumrall.

“My sense is we will have a wide variety of candidates,” Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin said of the coaching search. “We want people who can win championships at the University of Florida. That’s going to be our goal. We want somebody who can come in here, be a strong leader and win championships.”
