Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin said Tuesday during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show that reports Rebels athletic director Keith Carter has given him an ultimatum on a decision about his coaching future aren’t accurate.

“That’s absolutely not true,” Kiffin said. “There’s been no ultimatum or anything like that at all. I don’t know where that came from like a lot of stuff that comes out there. Like I said, we’re having a blast. I love it here … its just couldn’t be better.”

Per Pete Nakos of On3 on Monday, “Sources have told On3 that Carter is seeking an answer from Kiffin about his future ahead of Egg Bowl game week.” Kiffin’s name has been associated with job openings at both Florida and LSU. Meanwhile, Ole Miss, where he is 54–19 in six seasons, is trying to keep him.

Kiffin’s current squad is No. 7 in the rankings and 10-1. Last Saturday, the Rebels beat Florida in Oxford., Miss, 34-24 and they remain squarely in the mix for a berth in the upcoming College Football Playoff.

“There’s not a team that has more fun than Ole Miss,” Kiffin said. “The whole thing. The whole program. It’s just awesome to see.”

McAfee did not ask Kiffin any questions about his future plans. It probably wouldn’t have mattered as Kiffin has been clear about keeping the focus on his current squad in interviews.

Meanwhile, Kiffin mentioned on The Pat McAfee Show that he was joined at his 6 a.m. yoga session Tuesday by multiple Ole Miss coaches, and Carter.

In recent weeks, most of the buzz with Kiffin has been about Ole Miss and Florida. But lately, LSU has gotten more chatter, adding more intrigue to an already complex picture. Kiffin isn’t tipping his hand, but clearly a decision about his plans will need to be made in the near future. The Rebels play at Mississippi State on Nov. 28 in the annual Egg Bowl and the playoffs are looming.
