Live Blog: Florida Gators 80, George Washington 70

The No. 18 Florida Gators snapped a two-game skid Saturday with their 80-70 win over George Washington at the Orange Bowl Classic in Sunrise, Fla.

Up 30-27 at the break, UF opened the second half with an 11-0 run and pushed the lead to 20 with another 10-2 run. The Gators then went 4:57 without a field goal before they snapped the drought with a 7-0 run to go back up by 18.

Xaivian Lee led the team with a season-high 24 points and Thomas Haugh finished with 19 points. Boogie Fland also scored 12, all in the second half.

George Washington (8-4) was Florida’s eighth KenPom top-100 opponent, the team’s most in regular season nonconference action since 2017-18.

Xaivian Lee just hit his fourth 3-pointer for the second time this season. Lee has 19 points for the second straight game and third time in the last four. He’s 6-for-10 from the floor and 4-for-7 from 3.

The Gators went almost five minutes without a field goal (4:57), but Thomas Haugh and Boogie Fland ended the scoring drought with back-to-back dunks to push the lead back to 16.

The Gators had a 10-2 stretch to take a 20-point lead, their largest of the game, but George Washington has responded with a 7-0 run in the last 58 seconds.

The Gators opened the second half with an 11-0 run to take their first double-digit advantage and force the Revolutionaries to burn a timeout. Lee pushed the lead to 15 with his third 3-pointer.

The Revolutionaries have their first lead behind a 12-3 run. The Gators have missed eight of their last nine shots, with Thomas Haugh’s second 3-pointer ending a four-minute scoring drought.
