Live Blog: Updates from Florida's final midweek game vs. USF

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators‘ four-game winning streak was snapped Tuesday with their 7-1 loss to USF. The game was tied through five innings before UF gave up a four-spot in the sixth and two more runs in the eighth.
Florida finished with just three hits on offense, while the Bulls had 13 against eight UF pitchers.
Below are live updates from the Gators (33-17, 11-13 SEC) vs. South Florida (25-21, 12-9 AAC).

End of 9th: USF 7, Florida 1
The Bulls closed out the game with their third consecutive 1-2-3 frame and fifth overall. Rowland pitched a scoreless inning with his second strikeout, Florida’s 12th total.
End of 8th: USF 7, Florida 1
South Florida added two runs against UF’s eighth pitcher, Blaine Rowland, who replaced fellow freshman Carson Montsdeoca. Rowland gave up a 2 RBI single vs. his first batter. Adan Longoria tossed the Bulls’ second straight 1-2-3 frame and their fourth of the game.
End of 7th: USF 5, Florida 1
It was a 1-2-3 frame for both pitchers as Billy Barlow retired his fourth straight batter. Ty Evans flied out, Donay popped up and Hayden Yost lined out for the Gators, who have just three hits through seven innings. The Bulls have tripled that amount so far.
End of 6th: USF 5, Florida 1
The Bulls regained the lead with a four-spot on six hits, including an RBI double and three RBI singles against Luke McNeillie, who was pulled for Billy Barlow as the Gators used three pitchers in the inning. Luke Heyman had a double but was stranded.
End of 5th: Florida 1, USF 1
The Gators allowed no hits with Christian Rodriguez and Alex Philpott, who replaced him after one K and one walk in one inning of work. Brody Donay was walked and made it to third, but Justin Nadeau struck out after a double play.
End of 4th: Florida 1, USF 1
The Bulls took the first lead with an RBI single from Marcus Brodil, the third straight hit allowed by Caden McDonald, who was pulled for Christian Rodriguez. After a leadoff double by Brendan Lawson, he stole third and scored on an error to tie the game.

Jenkins struck out his fourth and fifth straight batter before giving up a walk and getting pulled. Jenkins finishes with seven Ks, no hits, no runs and two walks in 2.2 innings.
End of 2nd: Florida 0, USF 0
Jenkins hurled a 1-2-3 frame in the second, striking out three batters in a row — including one looking — to reach five strikeouts. USF’s Landen Yorek also retired the side.

UF sophomore pitcher Matthew Jenkins got the start on Tuesday night, making his appearance since March 19 against Florida A&M. He tossed two strikeouts in the first.
