National Signing Day recap: Gators finish strong

With the early signing period almost complete (it ends Friday), how have the Florida Gators and new coach Jon Sumrall done thus far on the recruiting trail? Blake Alderman, Corey Bender and Keith Niebuhr of Gators Online dissected Sumrall’s first class on Thursday’s edition of Gators Recruiting Live. And it’s safe to say, the trio is impressed.

—The group broke down the overall class, and who some of the key signees were.

—Blake, Corey and Keith gave their thoughts on who the most talented player in the Florida Gators class is. Four-star receiver Davian Groce was a popular choice?

—Who is the biggest sleeper in the class? Their answers varied, but receiver Justin Williams got a couple of picks.

—Which signee will have the most productive career in Gainesville? Groce got mentioned a lot here, too.

—Who will have the biggest early impact for the Gators? There was a range of answers, with 4-star defensive lineman Kendall Guervil being a player mentioned.

—Blake, Corey and Keith discussed the players who they were surprised Sumrall and Co. held onto.

—Finally, the Gators Online crew gave their class grades.

Two other UF commits have yet to sign. They are:

*4-star S Kaiden Hall, Milton (Fla.): Per Corey Bender of Gators Online, Hall plans to sign with the Gators on Friday according to his father. The time isn’t yet known. Georgia Tech and LSU made late pushes but at last check the Gators apparently seemed poised to hold on.

*3-star TE Kekua Aumua, Kahuku, Hi.: A decision should come Thursday or Friday. The teams we’ve heard the most about are UF and Washington. Auburn, which pitched him on playing offensive tackle, seems to be out of it.
