Reserve DL Tarvorise Brown to enter transfer portal
Reserve Florida Gators defensive lineman Tarvorise Brown plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to Pete Nakos of On3. Brown, a redshirt sophomore, participated in three games for UF this season.
Listed at 6-foot-6.75, 296 pounds, Brown competed in a combined 27 snaps vs. LIU, Kentucky and Tennessee. He finished the season with four total tackles with two solo stops. He posted a career-high two tackles against both the Wildcats and Volunteers.
In 2024, Brown’s only other season at Florida, he also played in three games and recorded one tackle. He played in a career-high 26 snaps in a bowl win over Tulane.
Tarvorise Brown joined the program in the summer of 2024 from Hutchinson Community College (Kan.). He had reclassified and enrolled at Florida for the fall semester as a late 2024 addition — as a preferred walk-on. Brown could do that because he was a full academic qualifier out of high school.
Brown initially intended to wait until later in the year to pick his college, but decided to go ahead and get it done in July. Florida’s recruitment of him seemed to catch Brown by surprise.

“It’s a big step man,” Brown said Saturday. “I never thought I would get offered by an SEC school. It’s a blessing. I’ve never been in Gainesville myself, but to experience The Swamp, and go around campus — I never thought it would be this big. It was a good experience.”
The Gators first made contact with Tarvorise Brown in July 2024. He had attended high school on the east coast of Florida.
“(Defensive line coach Gerald Chatman) said, Tell me your story about how I’m in the position I’m in now at JUCO,” Brown said. “He messed with the story I gave him, and he said we need to get you on a visit. I didn’t think he was serious, and then I think they called me wanting my information. I gave it to him, and then the next day I’m on a plane.”
