The firing of Billy Napier at Florida doesn’t just affect the head coach. Several assistants and staff members could also be on the move. One of them is offensive analyst Steve Spurrier Jr., who spent the 2025 season with the Gators.

Spurrier Jr. has not commented publicly about his next steps, but his father spoke about the situation Monday on the Another Dooley Noted Podcast. Most of his advice was broad, focusing on the realities of life in coaching.

“Well, who knows,” Spurrier Sr. said on Monday. “Coaching is a profession. You’ve got to keep your contacts everywhere because jobs open up all the time. You go where the work is. That’s been the case the last four, five years. Stay flexible. That’s what coaches do.”

Spurrier Jr. joined Napier’s staff after serving as Tulsa’s offensive coordinator. Over his career, he’s worked at multiple SEC schools, including Mississippi State, Oklahoma and South Carolina, following in the footsteps of a long coaching career that began in 1994.

While the locations and roles have changed over the years, finding work has never been a problem for Spurrier Jr., who has dedicated his life to football.

For now, he’s taking his father’s advice and staying adaptable. The Gators have five games left this season, returning Nov. 1 for the annual showdown against Georgia.
