GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The 2025-26 Florida Gators men’s basketball team wraps up summer workouts on Friday after seven weeks of training. The final four weeks were without top transfer Boogie Fland.

Fland missed the last month of workouts after undergoing minor surgery, UF coach Todd Golden revealed on Thursday night during his Champions Portrait unveiling at Spurrier’s Gridiron Grill.

“Boogie’s been out a little bit, but he’ll be back for the start of camp in September,” Golden said. “He had a little sports hernia surgery, 4-6 weeks (of recovery). He had it on July 3rd, so he’ll be back for when school starts.”

Fland averaged 13.5 points, 5.1 assists and 3.2 rebounds during his freshman season at Arkansas. He started 18 of his 21 games played and shot 83.3 percent at the line, which ranked No. 13 in the SEC.

Fland practiced with the team for three weeks before his surgery, Golden said, and developed good chemistry with fellow guard transfer Xavian Lee, who will start in in Florida’s backcourt with him.

Both players were top-40 overall transfers in the On3 Industry rankings, with Lee at No. 39 nationally. Fland was ranked No. 7 in the country, becoming the highest-ranked transfer in school history.

“He could have played through it, but it made more sense to get it taken care of so he didn’t have to worry about it during the season,” Golden said of Fland’s surgery.

“But when he was healthy, him and X did great. And they’re all great kids, man. They’re awesome players, but there’s no selfishness. I think they’ll be really, really good together.”
