The latest ESPN matchup predictor for the Florida Gators

Another week, another disappointing loss. For the Florida Gators, that makes four in the past five games. The fact three of those defeats came against top-five teams doesn’t soften the blow because in Gainesville expectations were sky high entering the season.

But a funny thing has happened since UF fell to then-No. 5 Texas A&M, 34-17, last Saturday; instead of dropping the Gators’ projected win total the ESPN matchup predictor kept it the same. Not only that, but Florida’s chances of winning actually have risen in four of its six remaining games.

How so? Because future opponents Kentucky, Ole Miss, Tennessee and FSU didn’t exactly impress either over the weekend. The ESPN predictor numbers shift throughout the season and are impacted by every result. 

So for now,  ESPN still has UF going 5-7. Not good, but better than 2-10.

As you’ll see below, the predictor favors the Gators against three remaining opponents. UF (2-4 overall, 1-2 in the SEC) next faces unranked Mississippi State (4-2, 0-2) this Saturday at home.
