Three Gators make All-SEC Football Quarter Century Team

Florida Gators legend Tim Tebow headlines the SEC Football’s Quarter Century team released by RotoWire.com this week. Two other former UF players also made the list, which consisted of 11 starters apiece on offense and defense, along with three special teams players.
Here are the Gators on the squad:
Tim Tebow, QB, (2006-09)
The skinny: The iconic Tebow is an all-time Florida Gators legend and some might argue he tops the list of UF greats. He helped Florida win two national titles and two SEC titles — and in 2007 he became the first sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy. Tebow was third in the Heisman voting in 2008 and fifth in 2009. At Florida, he completed 67.1 percent of his passes for 9,286 yards, 88 touchdowns and only 16 interceptions. Meanwhile, he added 2,947 rushing yards and 57 rushing touchdowns. Tebow is fourth all time in UF passing yards for a career — and sixth in rushing.

Maurkice Pouncey, C (2007-2009)
The skinny: Pouncey is one of the top linemen in school history. He started 39 games at UF, was a national champion, and won the 2009 Rimington Trophy, which is awarded to the nation’s best center. Pouncey was a consensus All-American that season. He left UF after his junior season and was the 18th overall draft pick in 2010. In the NFL, he had what likely was a Hall of Fame career. Pouncey was first-team All-Pro twice and second-team All-Pro three times.
Joe Haden, CB (2007-2009)
The skinny: Haden, a dominant shutdown corner, won a national title in 2008 and was a consensus first-team All-American the following season. He became the first true freshman to start at cornerback on opening day in Gators history in 2007. All told, he started every game he played at UF (40) and finished his college career with eight interceptions. Haden was one of three finalists for the 2009 Jim Thorpe Award, given to the country’s top defensive back.
