Todd Golden portrait will be unveiled Thursday night at Spurrier's Gridiron Grille

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A 2025 national championship banner will soon be hanging in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. On Thursday, a portrait of Florida Gators men’s basketball coach Todd Golden will hang at Spurrier’s Gridiron Grille.
Golden joins the exclusive club of Florida’s 19 championship-winning coaches who have portraits adorning the walls of the Championship Room in Visor’s Rooftop at Spurrier’s restaurant. The portraits are all painted by former UF linebacker and revered local artist James “Batesy” Bates.
Golden’s portrait will be unveiled at a short fundraiser ceremony in partnership with Florida Victorious on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Spurrier’s Gridiron Grille in Celebration Pointe. Golden, Bates and Steve Spurrier will be in attendance for the event.
Tickets are available for purchase for the public. Meet and greet opportunities and autograph posters come with certain tickets, and all proceeds benefit Florida Victorious to support NIL efforts. Purchase your tickets now at the event page on spurriers.com.
The Gators captured the program’s third national championship in program history and first since 2007 with a thrilling 65-63 win over Houston, marking their fourth comeback victory in the NCAA Tournament. The team celebrated its 2025 title at halftime of Florida’s spring football game on April 12. At the time, the championship had yet to sink in for Golden.

“I think we’re still waiting for that moment of it sinking in completely,” said Golden, who received a new six-year, $40.5 million contract. “It’s been a whirlwind. It has felt like we’ve never really been able to take a breath during the process and then the final horn sounds against Houston and it’s just over all of the sudden. And then there’s elation, jubilation, there’s exhaustion, there’s a million different feelings going on. The best way I can describe it is there are moments where it sinks in for a second and it’s pretty unbelievable, but big picture wise, I don’t think it’s really sunk in yet. The fact that we went 36-4 and won the SEC Tournament and won the national championship, it’s been a good couple months for Gator basketball.”
