Top 3 Alert: Gators making waves in recruitment of 4-star WR Brandon Bennett
One of the Florida Gators‘ in-state wide receiver targets is closing in on a decision.
On Friday, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported that 4-star Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage wideout Brandon Bennett is down to a final three of Florida, Florida State and Georgia, the same schools Bennett said stood when speaking with Gators Online six days earlier.
“Everything is going great,” Bennett said. “I have an OV set up (at Florida) for June 13, so everything is good. It’s just my relationship with (wide receivers) coach Billy G(onzales), my positional coach, and the standard coach (Billy) Napier holds his team to.”
Florida has long been in the mix for Bennett, who’s intrigued by how Napier and his staff use young talent. He’s especially encouraged by what he’s seen from freshmen already making an impact in Gainesville.
“They throw the ball a lot,” Bennett said. “I see a lot of young talent and they are not scared to play guys early, like Dallas Wilson, Vernell Brown III and Naeshaun Montgomery. Those are some guys I played against. Seeing them develop into great wide receivers, seeing the coaches believe in them, and seeing what they have what it takes and that they are preparing them for the next level.”
Brandon Bennett is feeling the love from Florida
Relationships are also a key part of Bennett’s decision-making process, and Florida continues to impress in that area.
“My family speaks very highly of Florida,” Bennett said. “Coach Billy G is a great guy and he shows how much he wants me. Sometimes we don’t even talk about football. We’re just building a relationship and that’s one of the biggest things.”

Bennett said he’s in regular contact with Napier too and values the way the Gators’ head coach stays connected with his family.
“He’ll text us, check up on my family, and let us know he wants us. He’s just a great guy,” Bennett said.
How NIL fits into the decision-making process
While NIL plays a role, Bennett made it clear his focus is on development and the next level.
“It’s important, but it’s not the main source,” Bennett said. “My main thing is that I want to go to the NFL. It’s always been a dream of mine since I was a kid.”
With official visits set to Florida, Georgia and Florida State, the decision is inching closer. But based on what Bennett told us this week, the Gators remain in a strong spot.
“I would just say I like Florida; I really like Florida,” he said.
