Top100 WR Davian Groce commits to Florida

When Frisco (Texas) Lone Star 4-star wide receiver Davian Groce announced that he would commit on Monday, the expectation was that the Oklahoma Sooners would win out. Groce zeroed in on Baylor, Florida, Houston, and Oklahoma ahead of his commitment. However, it was the Florida Gators who won out for the Top 100 pass catcher on Monday evening.
Davian Groce was a top target for Florida
The Florida Gators extended an offer to Davian Groce earlier this year in January while on the recruiting trail during the ‘Contact Period’. He only visited Gainesville one time, but the trip made a lasting impression.
“I wasn’t expecting myself to like it this much,” Groce told Gators Online in June after his official visit. “I feel like I’m wanted here. Feel like I’m home, like I’m not even that far from where I really am.”
The Florida Gators have been selective with their final spot in the 2026 recruiting class at wide receiver. There were other targets on the board who decided in July before Groce. However, the Gators never pressed. Instead, UF was focused on Groce, prioritized him due to his ability to attack defenses through the air and on the ground. The chance to learn under Florida wide recivers coach Billy Gonzales, and there’s a lot of respect for his histroy as a coach.
