WATCH: Florida freshman WR Vernell Brown III hauls in spectacular one-handed catch

The Florida Gators fans just got their first real glimpse of what Vernell Brown III can bring to the offense on Saturday.
Late in the second quarter against Long Island, the true freshman wide receiver went airborne and pulled down a sensational one-handed catch that brought the Swamp to its feet. It was a reminder of why Brown entered Gainesville with such lofty expectations.
In addition to his wild, 41-yard catch, Brown led the Gators in receiving during the first half with three receptions for 79 yards.
A former 5-star prospect from Orlando (Fla.) Jones, Brown was one of the crown jewels of Florida’s 2025 recruiting class and nation’s top wideouts. At 5-foot-11, 175 pounds, he built his reputation on elite speed, crisp route running and an ability to make difficult catches look routine. He is also a reliable punt returner who has handled those duties in the season opener.
