On Sunday, former Florida Gators tight end Kyle Pitts found the end zone for the first time this season.

During the third quarter of the Atlanta Falcons’ 34-27 win over the Washington Commanders, Pitts hauled in a 7-yard touchdown pass from rookie quarterback Michael Penix. The score highlighted a strong performance for Pitts, who finished with five receptions for 70 yards and the touchdown.

Through four games in 2025, Pitts has 20 catches for 204 yards and one touchdown. After battling injuries and inconsistency, the fifth-year tight end looks poised for a rebound campaign in Atlanta’s new-look offense. With today’s game included, Pitts now has 215 receptions for 2,834 yards and 11 touchdowns across his five NFL seasons.

Pitts starred at Florida from 2018-20 where he became one of the nation’s most dominant pass-catching tight ends. He recorded 43 ceptions for 770 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns in his final season, earning the John Mackey Award as college football’s top tight end. The Falcons selected him No. 4 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, making him the highest-drafted tight end in league history.

Now healthy and developing chemistry with Penix, Pitts appears ready to remind the NFL why he was one of the most highly-regarded players to come out of Gainesville. He will aim to carry this momentum forward, but first the Falcons will rest during their bye week before facing the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football.
