Where the Florida Gators rank nationally in blue-chip ratio for 2025

After Florida Gators coach Billy Napier signed an 80% blue-chip ratio in the 2023 class, some fans dubbed him “Blue Chip Billy.” Napier’s success with blue-chip recruits has produced a UF roster that can contend for a championship this year.
Bud Elliott of CBS Sports has ranked the 18 highest blue-chip ratios for the 2025 season and Florida almost cracked the top 10. The Gators are No. 11 on the list with a 64% blue-chip ratio, which is a three-way tie with Auburn and Miami.
Alabama and Ohio State are tied for the No. 1 spot with an 89% blue-chip ratio. Georgia (84%), Texas A&M (82%) and Oregon/Texas (78%) round out the top five. The SEC has six teams in the top 10 and nine in the top 18, making up half of the group.
With the College Football Playoff expanding to 12 teams, UF is in the hunt with its blue-chip ratio and 2025 roster, which is considered Florida’s best in years. Napier built it by prioritizing high school recruiting and supplementing through the transfer portal.
It should be noted that CBS Sports does not factor in transfers with its blue-chip ratio (only high school recruits and JUCO players). Walk-ons also don’t count (even if later placed on scholarship) and players that sign but never enroll still count toward a school’s BCR.
