Ex-UGA OL Andrew Thomas agrees to record deal with New York Giants

Georgia has all the press clippings it needs to sell offensive line recruits on joining the program but it just got another. According to multiple published reports, former UGA offensive lineman Andrew Thomas has inked his second contract that will play him a record amount up front as it relates to offensive linemen.
The deal is for five years and $117.5 million but the guaranteed money is off the charts. Thomas will get an NFL offensive lineman record $67 million when he puts pen to paper according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Pace Academy product is entering his fourth NFL season after playing in 45 games in his first three. He started 44 of those games and was named as a second-team All Pro in 2022. That All-Pro season came after Thomas had surgery in February of 2022 to repair an ankle injury. The Giants selected Thomas with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Bulldogs signed Thomas in the 2017 class. He was the nation’s No. 59 overall prospect and the No. 10 offensive tackle according to the On3 Industry-Ranking. He was ranked No. 8 overall in the Peach State. Despite not being an early enrollee and not making his way to campus until June of 2017, Thomas won a starting job in year one.

He started at right tackle with fellow first-round NFL Draft pick, Isaiah Wilson, starting at left tackle. Thomas held that spot down for 15 games, helping Georgia win an SEC Championship. That UGA team also went to the College Football Playoff where it took down Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl but fell to Alabama in the National Championship, earning a 13-2 overall record. He was acknowledged as a freshman All American at the end of that season.
Thomas then made the move to left tackle in 2018 where he started all but one game. An ankle injury against South Carolina knocked him out of action for the Middle Tennessee State game but he started the other 13 games. He was named as a first-team All American and first-team All-SEC performer at seasons’ end.
Thomas started 13 of 14 games against in 2019, opting out of the Bulldogs’ Sugar Bowl appearance against Baylor. He earned unanimous All American honors at the end of that season while being named All-SEC for the second straight season. He also took home the Jacobs Blocking Trophy.
