Ask Rusty: Georgia football and recruiting scoop post Jared Curtis commitment

Georgia fans have had plenty of reasons to celebrate of late. The Bulldogs added the nation’s top quarterback, Jared Curtis, on Monday. He’s the No. 6 overall prospect and No. 1 player in Tennessee per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that includes all four websites that publish recruiting rankings.

But Curtis might just be the tip of the iceberg. Georgia quickly hit the road and saw the nation’s top overall player, Jackson Cantwell, earlier in the week. It’s still very early in the 2026 class and the Bulldogs are ranked No. 7 overall. There’s so much meat left on the bone and the Georgia staff has been all over the road since the April 2025 transfer portal window closed.

Then you have the team, which is basically getting its only down time of the calendar year. The wheels are turning slow in Athens right now but they always turn. There’s plenty to discuss in that realm as well.

With all of that in mind, I held an ASK Rusty chat on Wednesday night where our members at DawgsHQ could get some scoop on demand. We went for an hour where they peppered me with questions on Georgia football and recruiting, and I did my best to provide answers.

Click on the link below to see a recap of that chat. Below that you’ll find some example questions and answers as well.

*** ASK RUSTY: May 8, 2025 ***

Q: How much does Georgia have to spend on players this year and is that amount shared with 100 players?

A: 13.5 is what I am told they are working with. Yes shared among the players, don’t think they will do 105 if that is the number probably 95ish

Q: Who is a recruit we are after that isn’t talked about enough in your opinion?

A: Khamari Brooks
