Georgia makes final 3 for five-star DL Aydin Breland ahead of visit

Aydin Breland is one of the nation’s most coveted prospects, and he’s now down to his final three options with the Georgia Bulldogs still standing. The defending National Champions are battling with Oregon and Miami for the services of the five–star defensive lineman.
A product of Santa Ana, California powerhouse Mater Dei High School, Breland is set to visit Athens this weekend for Georgia’s contest against the South Carolina Gamecocks. It will be at least his sixth visit to the Classic City, the most confirmed to any school to this point. Breland has already used his official visit to Georgia back in mid-June. He’ll be joined this weekend by Georgia commit and high school teammate Nate Frazier, as well.
“Me and Nate are very close,” Breland told DawgsHQ’s Jeremy Johnson earlier this week. “The fact that he’s going down there makes me more comfortable. That’s another standpoint of it as well. Me and that kid are actually really close.”
Currently, the Bulldogs hold the lead for Breland’s commitment per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, with a 26.7-percent chance of landing him. The Dawgs are trailed slightly by Oregon, and Miami is currently in the third position.

As for his interest in Athens, Breland is clear about what sets the Bulldogs apart.
“It’s based on the reputation of development, they’re the number one team in the nation,” Breland said. “I come from the number one team in the nation, so being in a big program makes you want to go to a big program. You don’t necessarily want to be taking a chance on a school up-and-coming right now. There are a lot of schools like that right now. You have to see who is doing it and not doing it. Georgia already has a system solidified. You don’t necessarily have to be the star of the team. Everyone else is a star around me.”
Aydin Breland is currently the nation’s No. 26 overall prospect per the On3 Industry Ranking.
On3 Scouting Report on Aydin Breland
“Pass-rushing defensive lineman with rare movement skills for his size. Measured in at around 6-foot-4.5, 320 pounds in the off-season prior to his senior season. Has good length for the position with arms over 33 inches. Has a naturally large frame, with his weight fluctuating between 280 and 320 pounds for most of his high school career. Typically lines up at defensive end for SoCal powerhouse Mater Dei. Moves like a much smaller player. Pushes the pocket with his speed to power. Bowls offensive tackles into the backfield on contact. Has the strength to stack and shed linemen to make plays against the run. Tracks down plays with his notable pursuit athleticism. Punishes offenses for leaving him unblocked. Also participates in track and field. Turned in a personal best throw of 46-6 feet in the shot put as a sophomore. Works as a rotational player for Mater Dei and is not as productive as most other blue chip defensive linemen to this point. Finished his junior season with 24 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and 4 sacks. Older for the cycle, turning 19 years old in January of his senior year.” – Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings
