Carson Beck comments on time at Georgia: 'I gave everything I had to that university'

Former Georgia quarterback Carson Beck has moved on to Miami, but he took a look back in an interview with I Am Athlete’s Darien Rencher.
Beck was injured in the SEC Championship Game as Georgia’s starting quarterback. He was ruled out for the College Football Playoff game against Notre Dame. Beck announced he was entering the transfer portal shortly after Georgia’s loss to Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl.
He landed with the Hurricanes. Beck has played well in his first few games in South Beach. Beck has thrown for 972 yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions for No. 3 Miami.
He spent three years in Athens as the backup quarterback before taking over as a starter in 2023 and 2024. Looking back, Beck reflected on how much of a role Georgia has played in his life.
“I was there for five years, my time at Georgia was awesome,” Beck told Rencher. “To be able to play some of those guys, they were some of the most talented players that I’ve been around. They’re just great dudes. To play under a great coach like Kirby Smart, he’s one of the best coaches of all time. His success speaks for itself.”

Georgia’s culture sticks with Carson Beck
Smart’s competitiveness stuck with Beck.
“He’s an intense competitor and I love it, I loved every second of it,” Beck said. “He wants to win and he’ll do anything to win at all costs. He is a great leader and demands respect. That guy walks into a room and a meeting room and zoom, it’s quiet. That’s how you know, this guy means business.”
Beck credited Georgia offensive coordinators Todd Monken and Mike Bobo for helping him turn into the quarterback he has become.
“Being able to learn from them elevated my career to another level,” Beck said. “I wouldn’t have been able to be the quarterback that I am without them.”
Beck also got a chance to speak to how things ended in Athens.
“The way that everything ended was very abrupt,” Beck said. “I wasn’t able to give my thanks, my appreciation, and I’m super appreciative and thankful for my five years there. That’s probably 20 percent of my life. I gave everything I had to that university. We had hard-fought wins and hard-fought losses. The work we put in there is second to none. I’m appreciative and thankful to have the support system that I had there. I made lifelong friends by being there putting in work with your guys. That’s what we do it for, those relationships.”
