Commitment Day Primer: 5-star QB Jared Curtis set to decide

Georgia’s recruiting universe has to hit a pause as five-star quarterback Jared Curtis is on the clock with his college decision. The nation’s number one quarterback will choose between Georgia and Oregon on Monday.
The Bulldogs have been a heavy pusher and contender in Curtis’ recruitment since his early days as a prospect.
Curtis was once committed to Georgia. He originally committed to Georgia on March 23, 2024. Curtis decommitted and reopened things on Oct. 17.
Curtis took a long list of visits to check things out nationally. The five-star visited USC, South Carolina, Auburn, Alabama and Ohio State. Georgia has remained steady.
The Bulldogs have returned to the decision table for Curtis alongside Oregon. The Bulldogs and the Ducks both got Curtis on campus this spring for final visits.
Going into decision day, Georgia sits at the top of the board according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine. The Bulldogs have a 55.1 percent chance of landing the five-star signal caller.

What has he said about Georgia?
Curtis has always been complimentary of Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. He does not do a lot of interviews, but Georgia’s offensive coordinator has come up a bunch in his recruitment.
“I’d say the production of quarterbacks is a big factor in it, but also the relationship with the coaches,” Curtis told On3’s Steve Wiltfong back on Oct. 17. “I have a great relationship with Coach Bobo and Coach Gummy (Montgomery VanGorder) and Coach Smart. All three of them. That is a big reason why I committed there and why Georgia is still a place I love. I’d like to see stability, obviously, but the biggest thing I’d say is relationship with the coaches.”

His last visit to Athens, Curtis’ mother provided a little more insight that Georgia again made an impression.
“We enjoyed Georgia,” Barbara told Wiltfong back on March 16. “We always do…They treated us like family and we enjoyed our time there.”
The Big Picture
Any time an elite quarterback is considering a program, it gives that program a chance to shift the future of the organization as a whole. That player has to develop and ultimately perform and perform well in big moments.
For Georgia, they’ve had good quarterback play without using the No. 1 overall type at quarterback. Curtis would be an opportunity to attract others, coupled with the Georgia brand that has become a beacon for those looking toward the NFL, the elite quarterback addition draws eyes.
Elite skill players are intrigued by elite signal callers. Georgia will continue to recruit talented defenders, but the offensive side of the ball continues to become a trendy destination.
Curtis may not walk into a situation to be Georgia’s day one starter. Gunner Stockton or Ryan Puglisi will start this season and have more years of eligibility on their tables. Long term, Curtis could be the key to Georgia going toe-to-toe with the elites in an expanded College Football Playoff.
