Former Georgia receiver Isaiah McKenzie was released by the Buffalo Bills on Friday. Come Tuesday, he’s found a new team. Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that McKenzie plans to sign with the Indianapolis Colts.

McKenzie posted 423 receiving yards and 55 rushing yards during the 2022-23 season. He had three touchdowns in the first six games and was the team’s leading receiver on Thanksgiving Day against the Detroit Lions. It was McKenzie’s most productive season as a pro after he put up no more than 282 in his first five seasons in the league. McKenzie was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the fifth round of the 2017 draft. In total, McKenzie had 1,345 receiving yards and 230 rushing yards on 188 career touches, plus another 1,630 yards on 108 returns. He has 16 career touchdowns. He also has one Playoff touchdown coming in 2020 in the Bills AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Prior to his professional career, McKenzie spent three seasons at Georgia out of American Heritage School in Plantation, Fla. His first two years saw him accumulate 190 receiving yards and 195 rushing yards being used primarily as a kick returner. Then, after Kirby Smart replaced Mark Richt as the head coach, McKenzie came into a prominent role in the passing game in 2016, catching 44 passes for 633 yards and seven touchdowns as the team’s leading receiver. He was the only Bulldog selected in the 2017 NFL Draft – thus becoming the first Smart era player picked.

McKenzie is currently the only former Georgia player on the Colts roster. Indianapolis went 4-12-1 last season under the direction of an interim head coach the final eight weeks of the season. Shane Steichen was hired as the new head coach this offseason. The Colts have the No. 4 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
