Georgia has been on a hot streak when it comes to defensive backs in the Class of 2026, and the momentum kept rolling on Saturday, as four-star safety Tyriq Green announced his commitment to the Bulldogs.

Ranked as the nation’s No. 165 overall prospect in the Class of 2026 per the On3 Industry Ranking, Green becomes the twenty-eighth commitment in the cycle. Green is also the nation’s No. 13 safety and No. 20 prospect in the class per the same metric. He is the seventh defensive back commit of the class for Georgia, as well.

He joins cornerback Justice Fitzpatrick, safety Jordan Smith, cornerback Jaden Harris, cornerback Chace Calicut, safety Zech Fort, and safety Kealan Jones in Georgia’s defensive back class.

The Dawgs let Green know that he was among their top wants on his official visit to Athens in mid-June, though.

“Getting to be around the staff more and building a relationship more was big, it just keeps getting stronger,” Green told DawgsHQ’s Jeremy Johnson of the trip. “They’ve been communicating a lot. Even with all of the commits, they’ve been telling me that I’m one of their main guys and one of the last ones that they want to land.”

Georgia co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Travaris Robinson had long been building the relationship, something he was reminded of during earlier visits to Athens.

“Coach T-Rob and I already had a little relationship from when he was at Alabama, so we’re just picking up where we left off at,” Green said back in March of 2024. “What stands out to me about him is he’s going to keep it real and let me know that I’m one of their top guys.”

A product of Buford High, Tyriq Green has been able to see former Buford standout safety KJ Bolden thrive in the Georgia system, and the former five-star let the rising senior know he could be up next.

“It’s like Georgia is the place to be for him, being a freshman All-American, and he was telling me that if I came up there, I could be one too,” Green told Jeremy Johnson.
