Georgia announced as a regional host for NCAA Tournament

Georgia will get the opportunity to battle for a spot in Omaha in front of their fans at Foley Field. The NCAA has announced Georgia as one of the 16 hosts for the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Bulldogs were the hosts for a regional and super regional in 2024 before falling to NC State in a decisive game three at Foley Field to earn a spot in the College World Series.
This is Georgia’s third regional in Athens since 2019. This will be Georgia’s eighth opportunity to host a regional in program history.
Georgia finished the 2025 season at 42-15. The Bulldogs were 18-12 in SEC play. Their stint in Hoover for the SEC Tournament was a brief one after falling in the second round to Oklahoma.
The seeding for the NCAA Tournament will be announced on Monday around 11:30 a.m. Georgia is a contender to be one of the top eight national seeds in the tournament. That would give Georgia the opportunity to host a potential super regional should they advance past the first weekend of the tournament.

‘In it to win it’
Georgia’s players are hungry to not just advance through the regional, super regional and into Omaha. Winning a national championship is the goal. Senior Nolan McCarthy went to Omaha with Kentucky in 2024.
He cautions against setting the bar too low.
“Last year, it felt like we kind of expended our team at Kentucky to get to Omaha,” McCarthy told reporters recently. “We really pushed for it, and that was the goal, but obviously we still wanted to win. But it felt like getting there was really breaking that door down, because it’s the first time we’ve been. And I think that every coach says there are a couple of teams that go to Omaha and just get there, and there are a couple of teams that go to win it. In my last year, I’m playing with a lot of guys who were there last year too. So getting to Omaha would be awesome, but that’s not the final goal; it’s winning it all. You’ve got to have the mindset you’re going in to win it, not to get there. If you go to get there, you’re going to lose.”
