Georgia isn’t planning on letting head basketball coach Mike White go anywhere anytime soon. The school has announced a contract extension for White through the 2031 season.

White helped Georgia’s men’s basketball team to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2015 last season with a 20-13 record.

The Bulldogs are entering year four under White. He’s gone 142-102 so far in his time in Athens. White was hired after a successful run at Florida, which saw him go 142-88.

Georgia will begin its regular season on Nov. 3 against Bellarmine at Stegman Coliseum. The Bulldogs will look very different after adding some key transfers this offseason in the backcourt.

White expects a different type of team in the 2025-2026 season. The Bulldogs were able to pivot stylistically during the portal window this offseason.

“It’s a landscape and it gives you opportunities,” White told reporters earlier this month. “It’s exciting, you know you’ve each year you look at your team and you play your strengths and your weaknesses. In fact, you pivot really during portal season. You know, when you get this guy, it leads you to potentially get this guy, and before you know it, hey, let’s evaluate how we could finish up portal season with these last two or three guys and complement the current roster that we have. So it’s literally within weeks, within days, we made some playing style decisions there at the bottom of the ninth in the in the portal season.”

Georgia also extended track coach Caryl Smith Gilbert, tennis coach Drake Bernstein and equestrian head coach Meghan Boenig.

“These coaches were part of an outstanding year for Georgia Athletics and continue to build their programs for future success,” Brooks said in a statement. “They each represent our department in a first-class manner and serve as exceptional role models for our current and future student-athletes. We look forward to many great days ahead.”
